Privacy policy
Buttie, LLC · Last updated October 26, 2026
Buttie is seat-side ordering for bars, lounges and venues. This policy covers the Buttie app for iPhone and Android, the Buttie web app at buttie.ai, and this website. It is written to be read.
The app and the sample venues
The Buttie app opens on sample venues. Everything you do there stays on your phone: the orders you place, the name you type, the seat you enter, your answer to the age question. The app sends none of it to us or to anyone else. There is no account and no sign-in.
The app asks for the camera only when you tap Scan, to read the code on a seat sign, and for the microphone only while you order by voice. What you say is turned into text by your phone's own speech service (Apple's or Google's), under their terms, and is used only to find items on the menu. Neither picture nor sound is stored or sent to us.
At a venue that runs Buttie
When a venue takes real orders through Buttie, we keep what is needed to serve you and to put your order on the venue's register: your first name, your email address if you sign in with it, your seat or table, and what you ordered. The venue sees your name, seat and order, because its staff bring it to you. We keep this for the venue's records and to send you the emails described below, and we do not use it for anything else.
If you turn on Face ID or fingerprint sign-in, your phone keeps the key. We store only a public half that lets your phone prove it is yours. We never see your face or fingerprint.
If you allow notifications, we send one when your order is on its way, and nothing else.
Emails about Buttie and venue events
When you sign up for Buttie with your email, you agree that we may email you announcements and advertisements about Buttie, such as new features and upgrades, and about the events, specials and promotions of the venues where you use Buttie. To send a venue's news, we share your name and email with that venue, which may add you to its own mailing lists (such as Mailchimp or Klaviyo) and email you itself. At Aficionados Premium Cigars, we also share them with Cigar Stacks (cigarstacks.com), a separate online cigar store, which may email you its own news, specials and promotions.
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and turning these emails off never affects your orders. Unsubscribing from Aficionados' or Cigar Stacks' emails stops both. Where the app's menu shows Events and offers by email, you can switch them off there too, or write to us. Signing up does not sign you up for text messages: we text you only when you ask, for example with Text me my stack.
This applies to sign-ups from October 26, 2026. If you signed up before then, we email you about these only if you said yes.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. We do not show advertising from other companies. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use analytics services that do.
Who we share with
The venue you order at, as described above, and the companies that run our servers (Cloudflare), carry the live order feed to the venue's screens (Google Firebase) and run the venue's register (its point-of-sale provider), each only for the purpose of serving your order. The venue also gets your name and email for its events and specials, and the email services it uses (such as Mailchimp or Klaviyo) keep them on its behalf, as described above. At Aficionados, so does Cigar Stacks (cigarstacks.com).
Age
Buttie venues serve alcohol, and some serve cigars. The app asks once whether you are 21 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.
Your choices
You can delete the app at any time; the sample data goes with it. You can stop event and offer emails with the unsubscribe link in any of them. To have a venue's record of your name, email and orders removed, write to us and name the venue.
